CANADA MAYFLOWER (Maianthemum canadensis)
Familiarity breeds comfort with this common plant of forest floors. Vegetative plants consist of a single, simple leaf while flowering plants have two or three leaves beneath a short spike of white flowers. Berries start out speckled with red and turn a solid dark red in the fall. Colony-forming from rhizomes.
